Tasting Notes

This wine displays a nose of bright red fruits, subtle florals, and savoury spice notes. The red berry fruit-driven palate is balanced with fine texture and a crisp dry finish. The grapes are hand-picked at just the point of ripeness to capture the natural vibrancy of the fruit, giving it a crisp acidity that makes it a wonderfully versatile food match.

  • Vineyard & Winemaking

For our rosé, we select specific sections of each block and manage them individually to achieve fresh, ripe flavours with moderate sugar levels. This involves minimising leaf removal to reduce colour development and balancing crop load to extend ripening and slow sugar accumulation. Harvesting typically takes place about two weeks earlier than for the same varieties intended for red wine production.

    WINEMAKING

Treated like a white wine, the rosé was whole bunch pressed, settled, and then fermented cool in stainless steel to emphasise fruit purity. Following fermentation, the wine was blended and aged on light yeast lees for two months to build complexity and enhance mouthfeel.

  • Vintage Notes

Vintage 2024 was a story of high quality but low yields. Following a wet winter, a very windy spring meant the vines struggled to set fruit. As summer began, the influence of the El Nino weather pattern started to be felt in Northland. Dry and warm conditions prevailed creating perfect conditions for ripening fruit. Consistently dry weather through February and March meant all the varieties were picked in perfect condition with great flavours.
