Tasting Notes

Rich in colour with a nose of dark berries and warm spice, this wine’s palate is elegant but powerful, with a core of dark fruit flavours, fine-grained tannins and a lingering finish.

Hand-picked fruit, with a portion whole-cluster fermented to give the finished wine a full bouquet and softer tannin structure.

  • Vineyard & Winemaking

Hand-picked, fermented in small open top fermenters. Approximately 25% was fermented as hole clusters with foot-stomping.

12 months in French oak barriques, 20% new, before blending to tank pre bottling.

  • Vintage Notes

A wetter than average early spring set up the vines with excellent canopies and good bunch weights. Summer was mostly dry and very warm although two events of strong winds and rainfall in early February delayed the ripening. A good window of dry and sunny weather mid-Feb to mid-March resulted in ripe and concentrated fruit.

Robert Parker l RP 93/100 - Driven by a massal selection of Syrah clones, the 2022 The Landing Syrah is aromatic and fresh, with pink and red berries, strawberry, hints of sumac spice, pomegranate pearls and black cherry. In the mouth, the wine is grippy and dark, with a black core of fruit that spools out into fine graphite tannins. It moves in a vortex pattern. I like it. Super elegant. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Reviewed by Erin Larkin

James Suckling | 94/100 - Blackberries, purple fruit, graphite and some dark plums on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with firm tannins that are slightly chewy but give energy to the wine. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
